All Saints' Warlingham Handbell Ringers
About Handbells and our Team
About the All Saints' Warlingham Handbell Ringers
The Warlingham Handbells were founded in 1993 by June Simmons. June was a chorister and sometime organist at All Saints church. She had a love of all things musical and started the bell team with a set of borrowed bells until the money was raised to buy a set of their own.
We started out with 2 octaves. Since then we have expanded our collection and we now possess 3 octaves of bells and a 2 octave set of tubular chimes, adding dimension to our ringing and allowing us to play a greater variety of music. Our team has grown and developed since it’s creation. When June retired in 2000, Daniel Pelling became our musical director and has remained so since.

Now known as All Saints Warlingham Handbell Ringers—or ASWHR for short—the team has played at all kinds of venues around the country, including weddings, tea parties, Christmas dinners, fetes, fairs, army barracks, camping jamborees, and many more. We have also attended bell rallies and symposiums where teams from all around the world meet, mingle and ring together.

We are members of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB), an organisation which brings ringers from around the country together through their newsletters and rallys. They also help to supply teams with equipment and music. You can find out more about HRGB on their website - https://www.hrgb.org.uk/

Handbells is a wonderful musical hobby that people of all ages and abilities can take part in and enjoy. All you need to be able to do is hold a bell and follow a beat. You don't need to be able to read music to play as we have numbered versions of every piece of music we use.

If you would like to come and watch us play and maybe have a go yourself then check out our future events for days and times you can come meet us. If you would like to hire us for a future event then please get in contact with us via our 'contact us' page on our website, or email us at handbellringers.asw@gmail.com and we will reply as soon as we can.
What music do we play?
We have a wide range of music in our repertoire including classical , church hymns, love songs, Disney tunes, and music from the movies and theatre. In the months before Christmas we change up our selection of music for more festive tunes, such as Silent Night and Frosty the Snowman.
